In-app commenting allows you and your team to collaborate any time, from anywhere, so you're always up to date!

This capability is currently available within our Planning tool, to facilitate seamless communicate on budgets and forecasting.

Supported Comment Types

Popover comments - Leave comments directly on the table within your monthly budget or forecast versions

  • Perfect for detailed discussions about specific days, segments, or combinations of both

  • If a comment is left on a specific day and segment combination, it will be accessible from both By Day and By Segment view

  • These comments, when viewed from the sidebar, will contain metadata highlighting their exact location within the table

  • Cells with active comment threads are indicated by a green icon at top right

Inline comments - Leave comments within the sidebar of your monthly budget or forecast versions

  • Ideal for general topics and questions that don't relate to a specific data point

  • These comments are accessed by opening your sidebar via the icon at top right of your screen, next to the date picker

Commenting Actions and Options

Within a commenting box, the following inputs an actions are supported:

  • Tagging - @ tag anyone on your team to notify them of you comment. User access is hotel specific, so you can only tag a teammate who has access to the specific property

  • Status - Mark your comment thread as Open, In Progress, or Resolved for easy review and filtering. Note: Resolved comment threads will no longer display in the table UI, but will be accessible within the commenting sidebar.

  • Assign Comment - Keep track of who owns what for easier follow-up. Assigning a thread to a user will trigger an alert in their Notification Panel, and any assigned comments are flagged with a banner at stop.

  • Subscribe or Unsubscribe - "Subscribe" to threads you wish to monitor to receive alerts, or "Unsubscribe" from threads where you have commented or been tagged to no longer get notifications.

  • Delete thread - Only available on comments or threads that you own. This action will permanently delete the thread.

Using the Notification Panel

The Notification Panel in your lefthand nav bar keeps you up-to-date on new alerts and lets you easily navigate to new content to review and respond. Clicking on content in the Notification Panel will navigate you directly to the associated comment.

Your panel is helpfully divided into two tabs:

  • For You - Notifies you when you are tagged in comments or there is activity on an active thread you are associated with.

  • All - Aggregates all activity by your teammates across any property in the portfolio to which you have access.

Comment FAQs

  1. Why can't I leave comments on my monthly view?

    1. Comments are tied to a specific forecast or budget month and version. This means if you have multiple versions of a rolling forecast, each version will support its own discussion threads.

  2. What happens when I copy a version?

    1. When a new copy is created, comments stay tied to the original version. You have a blank slate for updates and discussion with your new copy.

  3. What happens when I lock a version?

    1. When a budget or forecast version is locked, all comments and threads are resolved and archived along with it, so you always have a record of your discussions.

  4. When I click on a comment in the sidebar, why do some not appear to do anything?

    1. Since we support both inline and popover comments, you will see two behaviors when clicking on a comment in the sidebar. If this is a record of a popover comment attached to a cell on the table, the sidebar will close and the popover comment will open. If this is a record of an inline comment that was made in the sidebar, you will not be redirected anywhere and can reply directly in line.

โ€‹Hint: You can identify a popover comment in the sidebar by the helpful metadata that indicates the specific cell location.
