Adjusting Inventory Deviations by Stay Date

Learn how to override inventory type supplements for specific seasons or events.

A fixed inventory supplement is a compromise. Too high in low season, too low at peak, it's rarely exactly right.

Seasonal and Event Inventory Deviations let you adjust the price difference between inventory types for specific date ranges, so you are always charging the right premium for the right room at the right time.

How it works

Within an Inventory Group, each child inventory has a default price deviation, a fixed supplement applied on top of the group's base price. This default applies on all nights unless overridden by a seasonal or event-specific deviation.

Think of it as three layers, where each layer can override the one below it: Event overrides Seasonal overrides Default.

If a layer is not defined for a given night or day of week, the system automatically falls back to the layer below. You only need to define what you want to change.

Example

A property has a sea view room with a default supplement of $50 above the Standard room.

  • For the low season (November–February), they set a seasonal inventory deviation of $25, halving the supplement to stimulate bookings during quieter periods

  • During a summer festival weekend in July, they set an event inventory deviation of $100, capturing the higher willingness to pay for a sea view when the hotel is in high demand

  • On all other nights, the default $50 supplement remains in effect without any additional configuration needed

Note: Deviations can be defined for any child inventory within a group. The parent inventory cannot be overridden.

How to define a seasonal or event Inventory Deviation

  1. Navigate to the Calendar page

  2. Click Create New and select Price Setting, or open an existing entry

  1. Fill in the details section (property, type name, dates, category)

  2. Expand the Inventory Deviation section

  3. You will see a list of child inventories per inventory group. Each field displays the in-effect value as a placeholder; this is the deviation currently applied based on the layer hierarchy, so you always know your starting point before making changes

  4. Enter your override deviation for the inventories you want to adjust. You do not need to define all inventories, leave any unchanged ones blank to keep the current in-effect value

  5. To specify different deviations by Day of Week, enable the DoW toggle. Only specify the days you want to override, the rest will fall back to the layer below

  6. Save - a price resync will be triggered automatically

Tips

  • Use seasonal inventory deviations for extended periods where demand for certain room types shifts predictably, for example, reducing a sea view supplement during low season

  • Use event inventory deviations for specific dates where the relative value of certain inventories changes significantly, for example, increasing a suite premium during a major local festival

  • You don't need to override every inventory or every day of the week, only define what you want to change

  • The in-effect placeholder values show you exactly what the fallback would be before you make any changes, use them as your reference point
