Revenue managers may need to adjust rate deviations for specific stay dates to optimize pricing strategies based on fluctuating demand. Certain nights may experience lower demand due to external factors (e.g., midweek stays vs. weekends, low season periods), and dynamically adjusting discounts for those nights allows hotels to:
Maximize Revenue During Low Demand – Attract more bookings by increasing discounts on less popular dates without affecting high-demand periods.
Protect Base Rates – Apply targeted discounts to avoid lowering the base rate across all nights, ensuring high-value corporate and contracted segments remain unaffected.
Test Price Sensitivity – Experiment with deviations for specific dates to assess how different discounting strategies impact demand.
Account for Seasonal and Event-Based Demand – Implement different pricing deviations to respond to seasonal trends, local events, or specific booking patterns.
Steps to Define Deviations by Stay Date
Navigate to the Calendar
Open the Calendar screen in FLYR.Create a New Price Setting
Click on Create New and select Price Setting from the dropdown.Select Price Setting Type
Choose either Seasonal or Event Price Setting, depending on your needs.
Fill in all the required details such as dates, name and category.Define Deviation in Dependent Rates Deviation tab
In the Dependent Rates Deviation tab, you’ll define the deviation for your rate types. You can either:Set a single deviation for the full period.
Specify different deviations based on the Day of the Week (DoW) for more granular control.
Save & Trigger Price Resync
Once your price setting is created or updated, a price resync will be triggered to ensure FLYR reflects the deviations you’ve defined for the derived rates.
How to See the Exact Prices for a Derived Rate on Specific Nights:
Navigate to the Optimization Screen
Open the Quick View
Review pricing for all rates priced via FLYR
Click on the Current Price, which is now underlined, to see a popover that displays the derived rates, applicable deviation, and the calculated price for that night.Notes:
If no mapping is defined for an inventory, the popover will not display any derived rates.
Price Calculation for Dependent Rates – Each rate is calculated using the base rate of that inventory and the deviation for that stay night (default, seasonal, or event-based). Prices are rounded according to the rounding rules set in the Inventory settings screen.
Pricing at Inventory Type Level – Prices are pushed to your PMS at the inventory type level. To verify the exact rate pushed, it’s recommended to check pricing directly at this level, the inventory group is just an indication available.
