In Insights and on the home page it is important to be aware of how your revenue data is being displayed or specifically being filtered. The "Accommodation Revenue Description" Filter is arguably one of the most important filters we have, as it allows you to really narrow down your data into the exact revenues you wish to visualise and compare against your PMS.
It may even lead to the belief that you have data discrepancies when in actual fact, you may simply just not be aware that due to this filter and the way it has or hasn't been applied, you may be comparing apples π with oranges π - This article will show you how to use this filter and avoid that!
Home Page
Here on the home page filtering options, you will see that we default to Overnight data and you have the ability to add on additional accommodation revenues if you wish.
These are specifically other additional accommodation revenue charges only.
Some good examples may be; Early check-in, late check-out, parking, meeting room etc and depending on how you have set your pms reporting to display data, other charges that don't technically fall under just Overnight, could be applied and need to be accounted for in your reporting.
Insights
That brings us to Insights where you now unlock a world of possibilities!
Let's look at a simple example where a few additional accommodation revenue options available
And now an even more complex setup with significantly more options and thus, even more granular way of reporting on specific revenues or ensuring they are accounted for when you visualise your "Accommodation Revenue"
You may have already noticed that this goes a step further and that this filter also applies to ancillary revenue as well as cancellation revenue but when it comes to your pure accommodation revenue, the Accommodation Revenue Description is most important.
Hopefully this article gave you valuable insight into the purpose of this filter, how this filter works and how it could also in certain cases, lead you to believe there may be a possible dicrepancy in your data when in fact, you simply need to add it to a dashboard or workbook and ensure you are filtering your revenues in the correct way when comparing to your pms reporting.
