Manually assigning segments to rate plans one by one can be time-consuming and error-prone, especially when managing multiple properties or onboarding new ones. The Rate Plan Mapping Assistant uses AI to understand your mapping criteria in natural language and automatically apply segmentation conditions to multiple rate plans at once, ensuring consistency and saving you time.

Whether you're setting up segmentation for the first time, maintaining mappings as new rate plans are added, or refining existing criteria, the assistant is your powerful tool to streamline your workflow, maximize efficiency, reduce manual effort, and ensure consistent segmentation across your portfolio.

What You Can Ask the Assistant

The Rate Plan Mapping Assistant is designed to understand complex instructions described in natural language and transform these in mapping criteria. The assistant can help you with the following core tasks:

1. Defining mapping criteria - you can base your segmentation instructions on any of the following rate plan attributes, or a combination of them:

Criteria Type

Description

Example

Rate Plan Names

Use keywords to identify rate plans. Supports conditions like starts with, ends with, or contains.

Rate plans that start with CORP or contain NEG should map to Corporate segment.

Pricing Classification

Use the Pricing Classification assigned to the rate plan.

All rate plans classified as Group Dynamic should map to the Group segment.

Primary PMS Segment

Map rate plans based on the Primary PMS Segment assigned to them.

Map all rate plans with PMS segment Corporate LRA, Local Corporate and Corporate NLRA to Corporate segment.

Combined Logic

Use and / or logic to create highly specific matching criteria across all attributes.

Map rate plans with PMS segment MICE or GOV Group and a pricing classification of Group Fixed to the Group Fixed segment.

2. Map and create segments

  • Segment assignment - map a set of rate plans to a specific segment of your choosing based on the criteria you describe.

  • New segment creation - if you specify a segment name that does not exist, the assistant will automatically create it and apply the defined criteria.

3. Refining existing criteria

  • Modification - refine existing mapping criteria you have in mind (e.g., tightening a keyword, changing the target segment, or adding another condition).

  • Complex instructions - describe detailed, multi-step matching conditions in simple language, and the assistant will translate them into clear, actionable criteria.

How to Use the Rate Plan Mapping Assistant

The mapping assistant allows you to describe your segmentation criteria in plain language and automatically applies them to your rate plans.

  1. Access the assistant - navigate to Settings β†’ Rate Plans and click on the Mapping Assistant button in the table header.

  2. Describe your mapping criteria - type your mapping instructions in natural language. The assistant can process a variety of conditions as highlighted above.

  3. Review the assistant's understanding - the assistant will display how it interpreted your request and show you the precise, structured conditions it will apply. Always review this interpretation for accuracy.

  4. Apply - decide if you want to apply the criteria for all the rate plans of the properties in your selection or only for the ones without segmentation and click Apply.

  5. Preview changes - before changes, you will see a details preview of changes in the table. The assistant also offers a comprehensive summary of all changes applied, specifying the properties and the number of rate plans mapped to each segment specified.

  6. Adjust and save - review and preview carefully. You have the flexibility to:

    1. Save the mappings if the preview is correct.

    2. Make manual adjustments to individual rate plans directly in the preview.

    3. Modify your criteria in the assistant's prompt and run it again to refine the conditions.

Example Mapping Prompts

These examples demonstrate how you can describe a wide range of segmentation criteria in simple, natural language:

Goal

Example Prompt

Keyword-Based Mapping

Rate plans that contain Promo or end with FlashSale should map to the Direct Promo segment.

Classification-Based Mapping

All rate plans classified as Dynamic should map to the BAR segment.

PMS Segment Mapping

Map all rate plans with PMS segment Contract or Negotiated to the Wholesale segment.

Exclusion Criteria

Map all rate plans with PMS segment Agency to the OTA segment, EXCEPT those that contain the keyword Preferred.

Complex Multi-Condition Criteria

Map rate plans with PMS segment Group or MICE AND a pricing classification of Group Fixed to the Group Fixed segment.

Multiple Conditions at Once

β€” Rate plans that start with WEB should map to Direct.

β€” All rate plans classified as Fixed should map to Wholesale.

β€” Rate plans containing the word Corp should map to Corporate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the assistant create new segments automatically?

Yes. If you specify a segment that doesn't exist, the assistant will automatically create it. However, if you need to define the macro segmentation for these newly created segments in the Segments screen.

Can I apply mappings to multiple properties at once?

Yes. Select multiple properties when using the assistant. The same mapping criteria will be applied to all selected properties.

What happens if a rate plan doesn't match any of my mapping criteria?

If a rate plan doesn't fit any of the criteria you've described, nothing will be mapped for that rate plan. You can either add additional criteria to cover these rate plans or map them manually afterwards.

Should I review the preview before saving?

Always review the preview before saving. The assistant is powerful but reviewing changes ensures accuracy, especially when mapping many rate plans at once.

Can I reuse my mapping criteria?

Yes. Save your mapping prompts in a document for easy reuse when adding new properties or mapping new rate plans in the future.
