Monitor signals on the Signals Calendar are informational. They build situational awareness rather than flag a decision for you, so once a day stands out it is up to you to judge whether it is worth a closer look. This article covers the two Monitor signals, Pick-up and Market Position, how each one drives the heatmap, and what their tooltips tell you.
Note: the Signals Calendar is currently available to pilot and select accounts only. If you do not see it on your Optimization screen and would like it enabled for your account, reach out via the in-app chat.
For an overview of the Signals Calendar itself, including navigation and how Monitor compares to Act signals, see Signals Calendar Overview.
How Monitor signals work, in general
Only one Monitor signal drives the heatmap at a time. Selecting a different one from the Monitor control recolours the whole calendar to reflect that signal instead.
Colour intensity reflects the magnitude of the selected signal for a given day, and the legend next to the calendar shows you the scale and its direction, for example Pick-up through to Cancellations, or Below through to Above for Market Position.
Pick-up
Pick-up shows you where rooms picked up (or were cancelled) over a window you choose.
Heatmap intensity is driven by the pick-up delta, the change in rooms picked up, over your selected window.
The timeframe selector,
Show pick-up since, sets that window, for example the last 3 or the last 7 days. This same horizon applies everywhere else on the page, not only to this heatmap.A quick filter lets you set a pick-up threshold by absolute value, positive or negative, anywhere between 0 and the property's total capacity. Days outside that threshold show no shading.
Note: your threshold value is remembered and carried across pick-up horizons and across properties. The one exception is moving from a high-capacity property to a lower-capacity one: if your saved value would exceed the new property's capacity, it resets to default.
Hovering a day shows a tooltip with units created, updated, and cancelled, the net pick-up, and a breakdown by segment (FLYR segmentation). The tooltip also surfaces any Act signal or event active on that day, so you have full context without leaving the calendar.
Market Position
Market Position shows you how your property's current shopped price compares to the market.
Heatmap intensity is driven by the delta between your property's current shopped price and the median competitor rate.
The comp set median uses the lowest rate of each competitor, based on your default Market Rates Config filters, the same data used in the Pricing table.
If you have deselected any competitors in Display Options, they are excluded from this median too, so the figure on the calendar always matches what you see in the table below.
A quick filter, "Position vs Comp Set," lets you hide days with a minimal position difference, set as a percentage from 0 to 100.
Hovering a day shows a tooltip with your property's shopped rate, the comp set median rate, and your position expressed as a percentage above or below, for example: Shopped $199, Comp Set Median $148, Position +35% above. The tooltip also surfaces any Act signal or event active on that day.
When Market Position will not appear
Market Position is not available if Market Rates are not enabled for your property. If you do not see it as an option under Monitor, this is why; see How do I connect my Lighthouse data? for how to connect your rate shopping data and enable Market Rates, or reach out via the in-app chat if you need a hand.
