When you first connect your Property Management System (PMS) to FLYR, we work hard to bring in your past data — but there are some limitations you should be aware of, especially in the early stages. Here’s what you need to know and how we’re making things better every day.
What is STLY Data?
STLY (Same Time Last Year) data shows how your bookings and revenue looked at this time last year — it’s an important part of understanding trends and forecasting demand.
Why It Might Not Look Perfect Right Away
Your PMS only provides us with the latest "snapshot" of reservations, not their full history of changes. This means:
We don’t receive data on how a booking changed over time.
Cancellations often lack details like original revenue or booking items.
Therefore, some differences in historical data progression are expected in early stages after onboarding to FLYR. But this does not affect your actual revenue data.
How We Build Your STLY Data
FLYR goes above and beyond to rebuild as much historical data as possible. Here’s how:
For Live & Future Reservations (After Connection)
Once connected, we capture detailed reservation history:
We track every change to every reservation in real time.
We build the most granular and complete pickup history going forward.
We save all your historical data in FLYR regardless of which PMS you use.
Result: A complete, granular, highly accurate, and PMS agnostic history for you to rely on for all future decisions.
For Past Reservations (Before Connection)
For reservations with past stay dates, we have to work with limited information:
We receive only the final state of each reservation.
No historical changes are available from your PMS.
We intelligently reconstruct what we can using algorithms and available data points
Example: For past cancellations, if we get a cancellation date and previous revenue, we’ll recreate the original booking and the cancellation event.
Please note that there may be integration specific limitations on the data we can retrieve for cancelled bookings. If you notice a significant variance in your STLY data and suspect that cancellations may be the cause, feel free to contact us—we’re happy to investigate further.
Result: A powerful estimate for strategic guidance and trend analysis, not a 1:1 financial record which is not possible.
What This Means for You
In the short term: STLY data may appear less detailed than your internal PMS reports in the early stages after connection. However, actual revenue totals from your PMS will always match FLYR data (within 1% accuracy).
Going forward: You'll have increasingly accurate and detailed STLY data as we capture real-time changes to your reservations and build your history in FLYR.
Why We Go the Extra Mile
At FLYR, we understand how important accurate data is for your revenue decisions. While other revenue management systems may not address historical data reconstruction at all, we've invested significant resources in developing these capabilities. Our approach ensures you get the most comprehensive view possible while being transparent about the inherent limitations of historical data reconstruction.
If you have specific questions about your data, we're here to help. Please reach out to our support team for assistance.
