This article covers Mews-specific behaviours that can affect how FLYR pushes price and restriction updates. Understanding these will help ensure your optimization setup works as expected.
For data reporting differences between Mews and FLYR, see Data Differences Between MEWS and FLYR Reporting.
1. Mews shows FLYR as the creator of restrictions FLYR didn't change
Description
In Mews, a restriction can show "FLYR (Formerly Pace Revenue)" with a recent Created or Updated date, even when nothing changed in FLYR for that restriction on that date. This can cause confusion if you're trying to match restrictions in MEWS with FLYR.
FLYR sends Mews the restriction in effect for each night. Mews merges adjacent identical nights into one longer restriction. When FLYR changes or removes one night inside that range, Mews deletes the whole range and recreates it in smaller pieces, stamped with FLYR and the current time. Mews also rebuilds any overlapping restrictions at the same moment.
For example, if FLYR removes Closed on July 20 from a Closed restriction running July 1–30, Mews replaces it with two new restrictions (July 1–19 and July 21–30), both showing today's date.
Restrictions that end beyond FLYR's sync window (for example, 365 days) roll forward by one night each day. Each daily push triggers the same rebuild, so Mews shows FLYR updating them daily.
FLYR is not sending extra updates. The Mews timestamp shows that something changed nearby, not when FLYR last pushed that restriction.
Suggested workaround
Ignore the Created and Updated columns in Mews. Instead, compare the restriction in effect in FLYR (Optimization > Restrictions, then right-click the room type and date) with the restriction active in Mews for the same rate plan, room type, and night. If they match, no action is needed.
To reduce daily rebuilds, use realistic end dates on your restrictions. Splicing can't be turned off, because it happens on the Mews side.
If Mews shows an active restriction where FLYR has nothing in effect, or something different, contact our support team with the property, rate plan, room type, stay dates, and screenshots of both systems.
